Literature Text

Don’t expect lies-
I have none left.
Words for the wise
said without deft…

Fiction for prose-
truth saved for verse.
History knows
neither are worse…

I’ve poured it out-
every last thought.
Yet I don’t doubt
it’s all for naught…

When made perfect
I turn this in-
I give respect
to where I’ve been.

In this season
of wasted time-
here’s my reason
for the rhyme…

Don’t forget this
before the end-
we’re meant to be
as we intend…

This direction
leads us to pain-
as contention
is never slain…

I’ll mention love
not out of need-
I only shove
so we succeed…

With judgment passed
not of my own-
I’m here at last
and still unknown…

I’m not bitter
or full of hate-
that comes after
I’m far too late…

The final poem in my "Life Sentences" poetry collection. Simply put, I give reasons for my actions, and consider the futility of them.

Previous: The Nameless EnemyWhen my soul was set free
on the day when I died
I had nothing left;
there was nothing right.
Where I dug my own grave
there my epitaph lied
saying rest in peace;
saying here I lie.
Everyone's a martyr
for the cause of life;
everyone's a martyr
for the final fight.
There's nothing to barter
for the right to live;
there's nothing to barter
for how we will die.
Here our life sentences
are but short and sweet.
Here our life sentences
are but what we write.
To build our defenses
we trust out knowledge-
to build our defenses
on sight we rely.
The nameless enemy
waits for our weakness-
the nameless enemy
blocks out our last light.
And in the end I know
I made a mess of me.
And in the end I know
I've severed my tie.
In the desperation
of my absolution
the only solution
is but my admission
of my contribution
to pain and contrition...
I had nothing left
for the final fight;
for the right to live
for what I will write.
On sight I relied
but my light was blocked-
and in the end
my epitaph lied.

Back to the first: How the World EndedLet me tell you the story
of how the world ended.

Once upon a time
a man and woman
committed the crime
of being human.

Having many children
throughout the world
multiplied their sin
as love unfurled.

Let me tell you the story
of why the world ended.

Once upon a time
the whole world came
to commit the crime
of passing the blame.

Fingers pointing out
and never within
all because we doubt
our very own kin.

Let me tell you the story
of when the world ended.

Once upon a time
we were in a womb
long before the crime
of death took a tomb.

Unable to fight
against the horror
we birth into light
when none are poorer.

Let me tell you the story

This is a very good piece of literature. I think it is quite wonderful. It is extremely in-depth and full of detail.I think this work really shows that you are done with bad things like lying and disloyalty.I honestly don't think I have much more to say on this piece of work. The rhythm is smooth and the rhyming fits very well. You could squeeze some more figurative language like metaphors or personifications but I don't see it that necessary.I like this piece a lot and hope you had as much fun writing this as I did reading it.(Witch was something I greatly enjoyed:smiles<img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/s/s…" width="15" height="15" alt=":)" title=":) (Smile)"/>
